Photography Adventure

Dates: TBA, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Our primary activities will run from 10am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions as some activities will build from one day to the next. The order of activities may change to accommodate student abilities and weather.

We will provide a variety of opportunities and inspirations to take photos of various wonders around Vancouver, as well as to see the work of others. Some students may prefer to spend all of their time with a camera (in which case they should bring one). We will spend some time each day in the field looking at artistically inspiring objects, as well as going to art galleries and visiting local artists, we will even touch on some basic theory for those that like to get technical, although this is not intended to be a highly technical course.

Participants will be able to choose one or more works of their art to display on this website and in our upcoming Parents Guide to Amazing Kids.

In addition to the primary activities, there will be optional drawing to music from 9:00am to 10am each morning, and a variety of popular strategy games and boardgames to play from 3:30 pm to 5 pm. These activities are available by prior arrangement and are purely optional.

Note: This adventure is most suitable for students between age 9 and 16. We only have room for the first 6 paid participants, so please don’t wait too long and be disappointed when you see all the fun photos. Having your own camera would be a definite asset, though sharing is possible too.

Pricing
  • Cost of the whole 27.5 hours is $250, including nutritious lunches, snacks throughout the day, and all admission and transportation fees.
  • Participants can also attend the Gaming Club at no extra cost if they are interested.
  • There is a $50 rebate for students registered with Avante School in the Fall.

In addition to all of the above, there is financial aid available to students in need and who sign up early enough to allow our donors to arrange it.
